Orchids with Edna Hamilton

Become a better orchid grower by taking orchid classes at the SGVBG. A different orchid-related topic is discussed each month. Raffle  and plants for sale are available to expand your collection. Bring your “problem” plants from home.

 

Third Saturday of the month 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon at the SGVBG Bodine Center. $10.00 per person which includes admission to the garden on the day of the class and an information brochure.

POTS Saturday, March 18, 2017
So many decisions an orchid grower must make when re-potting plants. Which pot should I use, plastic or clay? Azalea or standard? We will discuss the different pots available and which is best to use.

It doesn’t really matter if you can remember all of the names of orchid plants, but it is to your benefit to understand how these parts function.

Become a better orchid grower by taking orchid classes at the St. George Village Botanical Garden. A class is held the third Saturday of the month, 10:00 to 12:00 Noon in the SGVBG Bodine Center.

$10.00 per person. Fee includes admission to the Garden on the day of the class and an informational brochure.

Attendees may bring one “problem plant” from home, as well as show and tell plants.

Classes are subject to change. Classes with fewer than two registrants may be cancelled.

Educational Programs

Private Workshops

 

Fun workshops are available to school, camp, and church groups for ages 6 and up.  These workshops are aligned to VI Standards of Learning and are offered for 15-30 students with preferably 3-6 chaperones.  These workshops are very interactive and there is a cost of $5 per person to cover the cost of materials.  Workshops take approximately 3 hours and groups are free to eat lunch or peruse the gardens before or after the workshop if they please.   For more information and a list of available workshops, email the Education Coordinator at sgvbg.edu@gmail.com.
